Character Study: Lot
November 17, 2006
Here is what my 14yo daughter wrote about Lot this week:
Genesis 19 talks about Lot. Lot means concealed. He was Abraham’s nephew but they treated each other like brothers. God protected Lot by sending him to Zoar before destroying Sodom and Gomorrah.
God sent two angels to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. They were going to destroy the cities because the people were wicked. Lot left the city with his daughters and wife. God saved Lot because Lot loved Him and He promised Abraham.
Lot showed hospitality. He opened his doors without knowing who they were and what they were doing in Sodom. Lot ignored facts about Sodom. He knew it was a sinful place and he still went there.
Lot showed us that we should make decisions that will help us with our walk with God. He was aware of their sins and ignored it. I need to make decisions that will put me closer to God.
1 Peter 4:9 Be hospitable to one another without complaining.
